Hi Matt,

Great job over the weekend and thanks for organising it!

Ross Dovey

Education Qld Percussion Teacher

Thank you for the incredible camp on the week end. James felt a real sense of achievement. Your knowledgeable and disciplined approach inspired him to work hard.

I just wanted to congratulate you on how great drum camp was! I twas an incredible learning experience and I am greatful to have been part of it.

I was able to focus a lot on my techniques and gained a better insight into my drumming. I also was overwhelmed at how amazing it was just to be surrounded by drummers all wanting to reach the same goal of excellence.

I think drum camp is a wonderful concept and what you've created is definitely appreciated.

Thanks a heap for all your hard work you put into the camp! I look forward to future camps and I wish I could go to drum camp every day!

Thanks

Nikita

Snare Workshops 2017

We are currently working hard at Drum Camp to prepare for a Snare Drum Workshop 2017.  This camp will hone in and enhance the skills of the individual players.  Discussions with Trinity College of London are well on the way to ensure that all Drummers at the Snare Drum Workshop can sit the Trinity Snare Drum Exam and leave with a world recognised Certificate and Grading.  Dates and more details to come soon.

PAS Drumline Workshop

23rd June 2014 saw the Drum Camp All Stars perform a workshop at the Percussive Art Society Day held at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.  The workshop was a great success with everyone loving their performance and sound.  Thank you to Tom O'Kelly and Vanessa Tomlinson from The Queensland Conservatorium & Gary France from Percussive Arts Society for having us.

Timbanouki Spectacular

2013 Greek Paniyiri Festival in Westend Brisbane was opened by the Timbanouki Spectacular. The spectacular saw the Drum Camp All Star Drumline and Brisbanes best Bouzouki players combine for a previously unseen or heard version of 'Never on a Sunday'.  A slight twist of funk was added in the making!

Spring into Summer 2013

Oct 6 & 7 saw many of South East Queensland's dumlines converge into one place to learn from Scott Johnson of Blue Devils USA.  The camp was a day camp from 9 - 4pm each day with a open house performance from 3pm on the Monday 7th (Labour Day Holiday).  Scott Johnson is endorsed by Pearl, Evans Drum Heads and ProMark Sticks and will be joined by Matt Cocking, Keith Stephens & Tracey James.

The camp was a great success.  Well done to all the participants.

What will I gain from Camp?

"Some of my younger students attended Drum Camp and focused hard on their Drumline skills. They came back to school motivated, confident and full of enthusiasm! This 'new' attitude rubbed off on the other students too. It's totally changed my ensemble."

Dear Mr Cocking

On behalf of the Department of Education, Training and Employment, I would like to thank Drum Camp for partnering with Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage 2013.

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19 and 20 July 2013, the show was a visual spectacular, highlighting the diverse talents and creativity of our state school performers.

With more than 1500 students involved, Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage is Queensland’s largest youth performing arts show and is the highest profile event staged by my Department. Your support as a creative partner is crucial to the success of the event and the exciting process that exposes the students from all over Queensland to industry professionals.

The rehearsals, workshops and performances provided wonderful learning opportunities and rewarding experiences for our students. You have played an integral role in passing on your performing arts knowledge to a new generation of performers who will help keep our arts sector vibrant and evolving.

The performance generated significant media coverage and received wonderful feedback from students, schools, parents and audience members alike. We are already hearing sentiments that this year’s show exceeded all expectations.

The success of this extraordinary program is only possible with the support of our partners.  We are very grateful for your and your team’s involvement and the opportunities provided to students as a result of our partnership.

I hope you can watch Network Ten’s broadcast of Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage 2013 on 5 October 2013 at 2.30 pm.

Once again, thank you for all that you contribute to this valuable event.

John-Paul Langbroek

Minister for Education, Training and Employment

"Drum Camp is the answer to what the Queensland drumming community has been looking for in years and is one of the very few on offer in this country.  The Drumline and it's involved students is the biggest focus with my work with Saint Stephen's College and I encourage every current and prospective member to attend.  The intensive training and performance experience of Drum Camp inspires each student to walk away stronger, motivated and hungry to become a better musician and performer."

Wesley Ong
