2013 saw the ninth year of Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage and has grown to become one of the largest youth performing arts shows in Australia.

Each year Education Queensland and Creative Generation team up with 3 Industry Professionals to work with the State School students who sign up to be part of the show.  Matt Cocking, founder of Drum Camp has had a long history with Creative Generation having played Drum Kit in the Orchestra, performed with his Drumming Show Bang! and taught a team of 20 Djembe players in their production of 'Thunder Struck' (2011).

In 2013 Matt was pleased to accept the offer for Drum Camp to align with Education Queensland and Creative Generation to educate our younger performers and prepare our segment "Some Nights" to the show with a massed drumline.

Producer/ Director’s message

2013 is the ninth year of the exciting and inspiring Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage. It is a wonderful opportunity for Queensland state schools students to showcase their creativity and talent.

Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage is the thrilling culmination of five months of workshops, auditions, castings and rehearsals for hundreds of cast and crew drawn from more than 100 state schools from all over Queensland.

It is an invaluable opportunity for participating students and teachers to work and interact with professional artists, providing a real-life experience of Queensland’s thriving performing arts industry.

I congratulate all students involved in this year’s show and commend them on their dedication, hard work and commitment.

I’d also like to acknowledge the strong support shown by teachers and other members of the school community. Our future is in safe hands with our Creative Generation.

I look forward to a spectacular production.
